Final judicial approval given to national Fen-Phen settlement
If you took the diet drugs Pondamin® and/or ReduxT, or if you took the diet drug combination referred to as "Fen-Phen", you may be entitled to receive cash benefits and also may be entitled to medical testing services and other benefits under a court approved class action settlement agreement with American Home Products Corporation. To receive these benefits, you must comply with certain deadlines. The deadlines are set out in the Official Notice of Final Judicial Approval that was recently mailed to Fen-Phen users. You must take certain steps by the dates set out in the Official Notice of Final Judicial Approval to preserve your rights under the national settlement. If you fail to meet the deadlines described in the Official Notice of Final Judicial Approval, you will lose all rights you may have to receive benefits from the settlement. In addition, you may lose certain rights to "opt-out"of the settlement and pursue any legal claims you may have against American Home Products.

Many clients took Fen-Phen, but do not know if they have any heart problems related to this medication. A diagnostic test called an echocardiogram is the most accurate way to determine whether you have valvular heart disease. An echocardiogram is a simple, safe, quick and painless outpatient test in which high frequency sound waves are used to create a moving picture image of the heart and its valves. The technology is the same as the ultrasound technology used to see the image of a developing fetus in a pregnant woman.
If you took Fen-Phen, but have not had an echo cardiogram, we can provide one for you, if you meet certain criteria. We have recently provided over 70 echocardiograms to clients to determine if they have any valvular heart disease as the result of taking Fen-Phen.
